ME
EZRA
THEM
OWEN
It had been a long week so far, the first part of the week always seemed to go by so dreadfully slowly and painfully having to be away from owen again after spending the weekend together. He was thankful that it was Wednesday so he got done a little earlier and it had flown by pretty quickly. He had been looking forward to having their date ever since he had asked about them going out, and it was all he could think about today.

After getting off work, he decided to stop off and get some roses to take to owen. He knew he didn’t need to, it definitely wasn’t necessary, but he wanted to. It was a nice gesture, he loved spoiling owen, and they would look nice on the kitchen counter. When he finally made it back he parked and headed up to his floor, letting himself inside. “Baaaaabe, I’m hoooome!” he called, heading further inside to find Owen. He smiled as he leaned in to give him a quick kiss before presenting him with the flowers. “You look amazing, my love. These are for you, handsome,” he told him, a cheesy grin spreading across his face. “There’s some vases in the kitchen island if you want to put them in some water while I get changed for our date? Won’t take me long, just need to change clothes,” he told him, giving another kiss, letting this one linger a few extra seconds.

Once Owen had wandered off to tend to the flowers, Ezra busied himself in stripping down. He grabbed one of his tops, black jeans, shoes, and jackets quickly pulling them all on. He stopped in the bathroom to check his hair, running his fingers through a few knots that had formed during the day. He spritzed on his cologne – Owen’s favorite one – before heading out to the living room just as Owen was getting the flowers situated. “How I do look baby?” he asked, though he already knew he’d get a positive response.
owen had spent most of the day drafting and drawing tattoos for his clients. most of the morning was dedicated to alphabetizing vinyl records, bastille, beatles, beach boys, etc…constantly running the alphabet several times to be sure that they were all in order. after completing the “b” records, he quickly got dressed and headed to his doctor’s office. he hated the fact that doctors appointments, medications, and dealing with insurance/co-pays was slowly becoming his norm now, but he knew that he’d get eventually get used to it. he finally got back around lunchtime and decided to finish these roughs so that he could send them too his clients by the end of the week.

there had been a change in owen’s mood since he and ezra got back together. he was less anxious, less tired, less whiney, less everything. he was slowly but surely reverting back into his old self. he seemed more confident now, less scared about things. he knew that he didn’t have to worry much with ezra around. the other lad always took care of him in ways others couldn’t and owen loved that so much about him. things between them happened much faster than owen ha ever anticipated. a month ago, he was miserable, sick, and always trying to get away from gabe and now it was almost the opposite of that. ezra was truly the light of his life and the one who always made things so much better for him.

owen was just finishing up when ezra finally arrived. he changed five times, wanting to look perfect for his boyfriend. he finally decided on a much simpler outfit - a pair of denim jeans and a white shirt underneath his favourite gucci coat. he’d put the hat on later once they leave the apartment. a massive dimpled smile appeared on his face upon seeing his boyfriend walk towards him with flowers. ezra had always been the sweeter one. owen appreciated everything he did, especially little gestures such as this one. “aw sweetheart…thank you. i’m so excited for tonight! go get changed and i’ll get these flowers sorted. you’re too fucking sweet,” owen stated before playfully smacking ezra’s bum as he walked away.

when ezra finally came back, a soft sigh slipped past owen’s lips. another wide dimpled smile appeared in his face and he couldn’t help but laugh a little. “i hate you…” owen joked, shaking his head and pretending to look away from his boyfriend. “how are you always so fucking sexy? i lucked out…” he added. there was such a different emotion flowing through owen’s veins whenever he’s with ezra. it was something that felt so pleasurable and so overwhelming at the same time. maybe something wonderful like love. or home. ezra felt a lot like hime. for once, owen felt relaxed, happy and soothed. “lets get out of here then before i change my mind.”
ezra could already see the changes in owen as time went on and as he got more settled into life with him again. he knew it would continue to take time to get back to a more “normal” owen that he had been used to before, but he didn’t mind that at all. he loved him the way he was and he would be patient while he dealt with having to adjust back to this better life again after dealing with a shitty one for so long. it made him feel really damn good to see the changes starting in him already though. he had always felt that owen deserved the entire world, only the best of the best, and to see what he had been dealing with before was heartbreaking. especially knowing he had essentially been the cause of it all since he didn’t fight to keep him in the first place which could have prevented it all. but he was happy he was able to save him now and knew he’d never let him go again.

he beamed happily at owen’s reaction to the flowers. “you’re welcome baby. i can’t wait for you to see what we’re doing!” he told him eagerly with a smirk. he nodded his head, chuckling when the other smacked his bum before walking away. once he returned to his side, he smiled back at him. “you do not!” he laughed back at him as he shook his head. “me?” he asked, reaching out to grab hold of his gucci coat to tug him closer. “look at you, sexy as hell,” he grinned, pulling him in for a kiss, this time more passionate than the first two hello kisses.

he chuckled at owen’s comment, reaching for his hand as he lead him out and down to the parking garage. he opened his door for him, wanting to be extra gentlemanly, then walked around to get in himself. “this is going to be so fun babe, we’re gonna do something we’ve never done before. or at least i don’t think you have. not while we were together, anyway. but i promise you will get fed,” he assured him with a grin. he knew the other man would have no idea what he was hinting at.

the two continued to chat along the way. as they got close to their destination he finally glanced over at owen with a grin. “okay…i will finally tell you what we’re doing… we’re going to participate in a murder mystery dinner!” he revealed excitedly. “when we first arrive we get to hang out and have drinks while they wait for everyone to arrive and it lets us get to know all the suspects more before dinner and the rest of the act actually begins,” he explained, finally parking when they arrived at the restaurant, the stockpot broiler. once they were both out of the car and made their way around to the front, ezra took his hand into his own as they headed inside. he got them checked in with the host, giving his name, and then told they could head on inside to the bar.
owen always craved for attention, it had been that for as long as he could remember. and while it may be annoying to some, he knew that ezra always understood. that’s why owen was left so heartbroken when they broke up, he knew that he’d never meet another like ezra. always so understanding, so kind, so loving, so gentle. owen thought that they’ve always been a good balance for each other. ezra had always been so relatively level-headed, calm and that fucking word owen fed off of - consistent. consistently kind. consistently loyal. consistently loving. owen on the other hand had qualities he thought could most certainly bring out the best in ezra. owen was somewhat strong, impulsive, always willing to change it up, and someone down there, owen was disgustingly loving. common misconceptions always seemed to knock owen, perhaps sometimes gave benefits of the doubt. and owen believed that ezra was always capable of understanding him. he believed that the other lad could comprehend owen does the things he does, why he says the things he says.

“oh i believe you, it’s going to be fun. just promise me there won’t be any murders tonight. i don’t feel like getting arrested for it…” owen joked, totally unaware that they were heading to a murder mystery dinner. he got in the car and buckled up before taking ezra’s hand into his own. it was probably funny how owen seemed to attach himself to ezra whenever they were together. there was no way in hell he was going to let him go. not again. as they drove off, he couldn’t help but let a small snicker escape his lips. “you’re so fucking romantic, you know that? i’ve missed you so much….i’ve missed this.”

throughout the entire drive, owen couldn’t keep still. all of it was so intriguing. he couldn’t remember the last time he was on a proper date with someone. gabe never took him out on dates and whenever he did, owen often refused to go - not wanting to cause some kind of scene in public., with ezra, it’s different. owen always felt so excited and so fucking giddy. owen’s eyes lit up when he saw where they were heading. “i said no murders!” he joked, shaking his head. “oh my god, babe, this is so brilliant! i’m so fucking excited! do i get to murder or do we find out who the murderer is while eating dinner? oh my god! this is so exciting! give me a kiss hurry!” owen laughed, unbuckled himself before leaning forward to give ezra a massive hug. he then got out of the car and followed his boyfriend into the venue. “are we to order drinks? not sure if i could have anything alcoholic. you’re my doctor. you tell me.”
it had always been the most amazing feeling how well the two of them just fit together like puzzle pieces. they got each other in a way no one else had ever been able to, there was a deep understanding, a deep connection, that ran through their veins and no one else would ever understand. it was one of the things he missed most while they weren’t together. he knew no one else would ever compare to their connection. it just wouldn’t be the same, wouldn’t be enough for him.

“i promise you won’t get arrested for murder, though i’m sure we could get into some other trouble,” he teased, flashing a smirk over at him. he gave owen’s hand a gentle squeeze as he drove towards the restaurant. he didn’t mind at all how attached owen was, he very much enjoyed it. especially since it helped make up for the time they had to be apart when he was working. “well thank you! i’m glad you think so. i’ve missed you and all of this a lot too. life wasn’t the same without you in it,” he commented with a little pout. of course it didn’t last long because the moment he glanced over at owen again he couldn’t help but smile.

ezra laughed out when owen commented on the murders, shrugging his shoulders. “but we’re not the one doing the murder, so we won’t get arrested!” he argued with a chuckle. “ yeah, we will help the detective to figure out who did it. so we can talk to them before it starts to get to know them a little and once someone dies we can go through their stuff like their purse for example to see what evidence we may be able to find,” he explained excitedly. “i figured a dinner date is always a good one for a first date but we’ve been on lots of ordinary dinner dates and while there’s nothing wrong with that, i figured being our first date back together we should do something a little different,” he explained. he grinned as he leaned over into the middle to give him a hug and kiss before they were getting out and heading inside.

“shouldn’t have a lot, but you can have one drink. as long as it’s not something super strong it’ll be fine,” he assured him with a smile. he headed up to the bar, waiting for the bartender to come over to greet them. “i’d like a rum and coke please, and whatever he’d like,” he said, motioning towards owen. while the bartender made the drinks, he glanced around to see some other people chatting. “we should go talk with people too once we have our drinks,” he suggested. once the drinks were in hand and he had paid for them, he reached for owen’s hand with his free hand and wandered off towards the group of people
